The African American Catholic Center for Evangelization hosted an Appreciation Luncheon for the Archdiocese of Los Anegeles' African American 50 plus Diaspora Priest. The African Diaspora consists of people of Native African Origin living outside of the continent who are contributing to the development of an African Union as memebers of The African Diaspora Community
There are 200 million Black Catholics worldwide; Catholicism is considered the largest religion for people of African descent; however, African American Catholics make up a relatively small percentage of the Catholic population of the United States. But when we consider the contribution of all members of the African Diaspora, it is quite significant and noteworthy.
Most people are aware of the contribution made by members of the African Diaspora in the fields of science and medicine, music, and popular culture, but little is known of the contributions made in Catholic vocations.
On November 19, 2022, at the Proud Bird Restaurant at 11:00 A.M., we acknowledged their contributions to the ADLA.
